Surrendering our beliefs has demoralized society

Since 1960, while the gross domestic product has nearly tripled, violent crimes have increased at least 560%. Divorces have more than doubled. The percentage of children in single-parent homes has tripled. And by the end of the decade, 40% of American births and 80% of minority births will occur out of wedlock. These are not good things to get used to. In the 1940s teachers identified the top problems in school as: Talking out of turn, chewing gum, making noise and running in the hall. In the 1990s teachers listed drugs, alcohol, pregnancy, suicide, rape, and assault, these are not good things to get used to either.

Now we have graduated to gun violence in our schools. With all of our economic prosperity and military security, why does 70% of the public say we are off tract? We must return religion to its proper place of providing moral bearings, and the solutions to our problems. We must have a ‘spiritual renewal’ in our public lives. What would you do if I told you that there is someone so perverted, so sick, so disgusting, so vindictive, so vial and so obsessed with our children that they will do anything in their power to destroy their innocence, ruin their lives and rob them of the knowledge of God.

My prayer this day is that you love your children and do whatever it takes to stop the attacks against your child. The devil is constantly looking for his next victim. 1 Peter 5:8 says: “your adversary as a roaring lion, walketh about seeking whom he may devour.” We often apply this scripture with an adult, but the devil is an equal opportunity adversary. He cares nothing about age, or gender. All he wants to do is kill, steal, and destroy. A child gives him extra excitement because Jesus says in Mark 10:14: “suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not; for of such is the kingdom of God.” Today, things are even worse, for when you send your children off to school you do not know if they will return home safe.

On December 14, 2012, a mental ticking time bomb walked into a school in Connecticut with an assault rifle, killing 20 children, and six adults. I personally believe Satan planted the seed for this kind of mayhem when a loud-mouthed woman demanded that prayer be taken out of the schools. God help us all. My weekly prayer is that the reader of this commentary becomes spiritually inspired of God.
