Lee Chapel Mission chorus headed to Alabama

It’s that time once again for the Mission Chorus of Lee Chapel AME Church to take their annual Mission Chorus Trip 2013 on Labor Day Weekend. The group will be leaving for Alabama where they will work with the Alabama Rural Ministry (ARM).

“We are excited and look forward to taking this unique ministry to the people of Alabama and working with ARM,” said mission leaders.

Following the last official holiday of the summer the group will “pack up the bus and leave before dawn, travelling to do mission work.” Responding to problems brought about by poverty, the mission’s trip will begin in or near Tuskegee, Alabama.

“Need never stops,” according to the group. “News accounts cease…some people get on with their lives,’ but in the communities where we usually work—the need is as great now as it ever has been.”
This mission trip is not in response to a natural disaster this time, but to the ongoing need for help in an underserved community.

This is not considered a summer vacation, but a great reward for the participating members of Lee Chapel Church Mission Chorus.

The trip combines two loves, praising God in song and a heart for mission work. As participants go out to work, they will also perform a benefit concert to raise funds.

The public is invited to join Lee Chapel on August 25 at 7 pm at Lee Chapel AME Church for a service of prayer. Lee Chapel is located at 1732 Scovel Street. Rev. Edward L. Thompson is the pastor.
