TriStar Centennial Medical Center in Nashville has announced three new members to the hospitals’ Board of Trustees. Among them is Metro Councilmember Edith Taylor Langster. Langster, Metro Nashville council member, District 21, and Lawrence J. Pass, M.D., cardiothoracic surgeon at TriStar Centennial Medical Center, have been appointed as Board of Trustees members for three-year terms through December 31, 2016.
Councilmember Langster represents District 21 for the Metropolitan Government of Nashville & Davidson County. She holds a B.S. in sociology from Tennessee State University and has more than 20 years of experience in public office. She is actively involved in many civic organizations and serves on several community boards.

Langster has served in District 21 since 2007. Presently, she serves as chair of Public Works, and is on the following Council committees: Budget and Finance, Convention, Tourism and Public Entertainment Facilities and Federal Grants Review.
Langster’s political career is noteworthy. She previously served as a Metro Council member from1991-9595. She retired from the Tennessee General Assembly where she had served as an elected State Representative from 1995 to 2007.
Langster is also a former Metro Police officer, and completed course work for a Master’s degree in ‘guidance and counseling.’ She has two adult children, Travis, a resident of Maryland; and David, who resides in Virginia.
A native of Nashville, Tenn., Lawrence J. Pass, M.D., is a cardiothoracic surgeon at TriStar Centennial Medical Center and joined TriStar Cardiothoracic Surgery, part of TriStar Medical Group, in Feb., 2012. Dr. Pass completed his undergraduate studies at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, and earned his Medical Doctorate from Northwestern University in Chicago, Ill.
He completed residencies at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, University of Rochester in Rochester, N.Y., and Yale University Medical Center in New Haven, Conn. Dr. Pass is board certified by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery, the American Board of Surgery and the National Board of Medical Examiners.
As the 2012 Frist Humanitarian Employee Award recipient, Karen L. Watts, TriStar Centennial Medical Center, was appointed as a non-voting member for a term of one year through December 31, 2014. Watts is an associate in the TriStar Centennial imaging department, and is actively engaged in the Nashville community.
Juli G. Horton, M.D., infectious disease physician, TriStar Centennial Medical Center, continues in her role as chair; Arthur B. Laffer, Ph.D., founder and chairman of Laffer Associates and Laffer Investments, as vice chair; and Heather J. Rohan, FACHE, president/CEO for TriStar Centennial, as secretary, Board of Trustees.
The TriStar Centennial Medical Center Board of Trustees is comprised of 20 positions, filled by appointment, to provide hospital oversight.
They review and provide guidance on aspects including operations, employee relations, regulatory compliance, finances, and meeting community healthcare needs. Appointments are for a period of three years. Trustees may be reappointed for a second term.
