The Rev. Barbara Woods-Washington visited Clark Memorial UMC in May to introduce her premier book, “Faith of a Mustard Seed: Thoughts On The Use of Faith In The Gospels.” (Pictured below with literary agent, Vickie J. Shaw)
In June she had a booksigning at the Avon Williams Library on the campus of Tennessee State University, downtown.
During that event Washington not only read excerpts from the book and signed copies, she also introduced some of her many quilts, including two first time displayed Tennessee State University historical quilts. She discussed the history behind her gift of quilting. “Quilts have become a powerful teaching tool for me,” stated Rev. Washington as she describes the quilt entitled, “The Underground Railroad.”
Spiritually clothed, she now knows the definition of a muse as Dr. Hines served as her muse during this writing project.
Later in June, the Rev. Barbara Woods-Washington also displayed an extensive historical display at the Juneteenth activities held at Fort Negley.
