For the eighth year, the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office and U.S. Marine Corps are partnering for a motorcycle run to benefit the Toys for Tots program.

Rain or shine, motorcycles will line the streets of Nashville with a parade of ‘bikes.’

Registration will begin at 9:30 am at LP Field, Lot N. The parade will start at 11 am.

“All it takes is $10 and a new, unwrapped toy per person to participate in this event. Something so simple can make such a difference in a child’s life,” said, Daron Hall, Davidson County sheriff. “Much of what we do at the sheriff’s office is perceived as negative, from incarceration to serving civil warrants. This is a great opportunity for our employees to do something positive and give back to the children of Middle Tennessee. It is important for us to support our community, and this is just one way throughout the year we do that.”

The 2013 Toys for Tots Motorcycle Ride included 200 participating bikes. The DCSO collected nearly 300 toys and $7,500 in donations for the USMC Toys for Tots program.

Over the years, DCSO’s partnership with the program has brought in more than 11,000 toys and $40,000.

According to the Toys for Tots website, since its inception in 1947, Marines have distributed nearly 500 million toys to over 200 million children.

When the ‘ride’ is finished, lunch and entertainment will be provided.
