HCA held a groundbreaking ceremony on October 3 at its Capitol View site. This will be the new headquarters location for its Parallon and Sarah Cannon subsidiaries when it is completed in 2016. Both HCA subsidiaries are expanding.

Parallon offers healthcare providers a range of business and operational services, including group purchasing and supply chain through HealthTrust.

Sarah Cannon, the global cancer enterprise of HCA, advances science and transforms care through clinical research and integrated cancer care services offered to patients not only in Nashville, but also in markets across the United States and United Kingdom.

HCA’s approximately 11-acre Capitol View site in the North Gulch will feature a 16-story tower, and other structures, with a total of more than 500,000 square feet of office space, about 30,000 square feet of retail space, a parking garage and some surface parking. This approximately $200 million project will bring about 2,000 jobs to Davidson County during the next several years.

“It will also serve as a seamless link connecting the North Gulch with the Jefferson Street residential and commercial corridor and the Ball Park and the many investments to follow,” said Metro Council member Erica Gilmore. “As we all know, these giant steps forward don’t happen by themselves. They come to pass when a corporate citizen like HCA joins hands with our city to find the smartest ways to take Nashville to the next level. As this spot comes alive with retail and offices, it will breathe new life into a part of the city that is poised for a renewed vibrancy.”

As part of the Capitol View construction project, HCA committed to a goal of 20% contracting with women- and-minority-owned businesses. HCA and Skanska, construction manager for the project, will engage the local community in a creative exercise that adds an aesthetic quality to the construction site and honors this commitment to diversity. Local artist and Skanska Diversity Manager James Threalkill, along with fellow artists Michael McBride and Randy Purcell, will lead community youth in the creation of a mural, which will be placed on the perimeter fencing of the construction site.
