For its first installment of Regions Free Day in 2015, Regions Bank invites children and families across Middle Tennessee to attend the Nashville Children’s Theatre’s performance of Jack’s Tale – A Mythic Mountain Musical at no cost on Saturday, Feb. 28.
The authentically southern show, premiering a week earlier at the famous John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C., draws inspiration from old-time Appalachian legends and traditional mountain music to tell the tale of Jack and his grand adventures to win the hand of Old King’s Daughter.
500 free tickets are now available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Reservations can be made online at Nashvillect.org or by calling the Nashville Children Theatre’s box office at 615-252-4675. Limit of four tickets per person.
This event is part of the Free Day initiative at Regions Bank. The initiative started in 2010. Regions Free Day is an annual initiative offering complimentary access to one area blockbuster event each month. Regions Bank’s program allows Middle Tennessee residents to explore the fun and unique attractions Nashville has to offer at little or no cost.
Every month Regions Bank provides Middle Tennesseans free access to myriad landmark attractions and supporting area nonprofits that are the fabric of Nashville’s vibrant community.
Some places and events made free by the initiative in the past include: the Nashville Schermerhorn Symphony, the Tennessee Renaissance Fair, the Nashville Zoo, the Nashville Sounds and the Cheekwood Botanical Garden and Museum of Art, among others.
The initiative is really making an impact in the Middle Tennessee community, and it is open to the public, not just Regions Bank customers. It is important that people, especially kids, get exposed to arts and culture at an early age.
Visual arts educate children about the art and history of their own culture and others. According to the Dryden Art Department, this promotes tolerance of multicultural concepts and historical perspectives. Without exposure to art of other times and areas of the world, young children wouldn’t have the opportunity to learn about and understand other cultures and viewpoints.
