Having a child is indeed a blessing from God and a wonderful thing on so many levels. However, losing a child is at the other end of the proverbial spectrum. Unless you’re unfortunate enough to have lived through this experience, there are no words to describe the heartfelt pain. It brings this writer no personal joy to share such a loss with many mothers (and fathers). It’s been said time and time again that God makes no mistakes, and that time heals all wounds. Unforeseen personal experience speaks loudly here too.

Author, entrepreneur, woman of God, speaker and loving mother, Vanessa J. Ross demonstrated sheer strength and hard won faith when she was able to write about her personal journey of physically losing a child–but forever keeping that child close to her heart in a spiritual sense. Her journey is revealed in the pages of her book A Mother’s Journey Through Her Daughter’s Eyes — Following the Higher Calling.

She has provided detailed photographs, testimonies, prayer and much needed words of wisdom for not just grieving mothers, but anyone who can feel the emotions her penmanship stirs up, page by page. Vanessa lost a daughter and although this caused her unimaginable pain, she used the experiences surrounding that unforeseen life event to help others ‘feel, deal and heal.’

Ironically, the words that leap off the pages of this literary testimonial, are not just for grieving mothers (or fathers). Her invaluable experiences leading up to or stemming from the loss of her beautiful child extend through the pages of this easy to read book. They also contribute a wealth of passion and vested knowledge to her speaking engagements nationwide.

She is fortunate enough to still have her own mother, sisters and grandchildren present in her life. Her earthly rock is her supportive husband, John Ross. Mrs. Ross has attracted friends from across the nation and some international friends too. Some have become more like family or can be morphed into the catchy term ‘framily.’ In addition to A Mother’s Journey Through Her Daughter’s Eyes — Following the Higher Calling she co-authored another book with author Ashley Love titled: Tainted
Elegance Simply Beautiful – Scars & Flaws, Rises & Falls, You Are Beautiful!

Certainly there is a grieving process when a loved one is called home to serve God from a closer prospective, and of course Vanessa is no stranger to this process. When asked “How are you able to deal with the loss of your angel baby girl?” her caring response was: “She is gone but never forgotten and will always be kept alive in my heart and in the hearts and minds of those who knew and loved her.”

The book exudes wisdom but is simplistic and compelling. It is easy to read and easy to carry in a pocket, purse or a bag. It is a tangible reference of how one strong and amazing woman has used and has learned to deal with an otherwise powerless situation, on a daily basis. Vanessa J. Ross is indeed one to take note from a page in the life and times of accepting the inevitable and making the best of it. For more information, visit vanessajross.weebly.com.
