Members of St. Luke are appreciated. A Member Appreciation Day will be held at St. Luke African Methodist Episcopal (AME) Church on April 17.

The celebration of members will begin on April 16 with a Member Appreciation Prayer Breakfast at 9 am Sunday, April 17—followed by two worship services in honor of Membership Appreciation Day at 11 am with guest, Wanda Payne of Ebenezer AME, and at 3 pm with guest Bishop Baletta McMurray-Fite of Heavens View Baptist Church, Lebanon, Tenn.

Rev. Eddie Sneed is the pastor of St. Luke and the coordinator of this effort. Sneed has held this event in over four churches for over a decade.

“My hope is to partner with other churches to have similar events where other pastors will honor their members as the members honor their pastors,” Sneed said. Sneed would like to travel from church-to-church with this concept.

The Membership Appreciation Breakfast consists of the pastor preparing and serving breakfast to the members of his church.

“This is designed to raise funds and increase the relationship with the pastor and the members,” he said. “What a sight to see pastors in aprons—serving, which is an honor.”

After all, to have the heart of a servant is to honor God. Philippians 2:3-5 says: “Do nothing from rivalry or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus.”

The theme of the prayer breakfast is ‘Give Honor to Whom Honor is Due—the Body of Christ.’
Pastors and churches are encouraged to participate in this program and join the Rev. Sneed in partnership.

St. Luke African Methodist Episcopal is located at 901 40th Ave. N., where the pastor is Rev. Eddie L. Sneed.
