Titans short winning streak ends against Colts

Tennessee Titans played the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday at noon at the Nissan Stadium. Both teams went in 3-3 but it was only the Colts who left with the victory and a 4-3 record and a 2nd place in the AFC South.

Titan’s tackle, Taylor Lewan surprised everyone when he showed his notorious athletic ability on Tennessee’s first drive of the game. On a tackle-eligible play, Lewan snared a short pass from Marcus Mariota and sprinted into the end zone. It was his first career reception.

Colts quarterback Andrew Luck decimated the Titans once again with a late touchdown drive — 70 yards in 12 plays, taking 4:07 off the clock on the way to the game-winning score. But the Titans weren’t nearly as good when they had their opportunity in the clutch. On their first play of the following drive, Mariota had the ball knocked away from him, allowing Robert Mathis to pick it up and run in for a touchdown.

The Titans looked to have a major advantage in the pass-rushing department going into this game. They were also the higher ranked team. They actually had a tie score in the 4th quarter, each with 20 points.

However, the Titans had some bad luck. Starting cornerback Perrish Cox was lost to a head injury and defensive backs were burned repeatedly, especially by Colts wide receiver T.Y. Hilton, who finished the game with seven catches for 133 yards and a touchdown. Tight end Jack Doyle proved impossible for the Titans to cover as well, catching nine passes — on 10 targets — for 78 yards and a touchdown.

The final score was Titans 26, Colts 34.
