Mrs. Mai Olive Lusk spent the better part of Dec. 28 completing a two-fold planned activity celebrating Kwanzaa and the culmination of the end of 2016 for a few family and friends.

The group was picked up by Jackson Limousine Services, and while riding through Nashville chatted about the unexpected and rapid growth of he city with all of the new stately buildings. And at the time, they were intrigued by the many lights of Christmas. One of the most interesting sights was along Briley Parkway in the Opry Mills area where the ride stopped for dinner at the Cock of the Walk restaurant where they were treated to a ‘scrumptious’ meal.

Afterwards, the group loaded back up and took a ride through Jellystone Park and then to see more lights at Opryland Hotel.

The next stop was home for the next day’s activity on Wednesday.

Wednesday, the final ‘leg’ of the event was held at the new Kingdom Cafe & Grill on Jefferson Street. The group met for a lunch that was “quite a feast,” said one participant. Following their lunch, the group went to a smaller area in the cafe. Some of the people in the group played Bridge and others continued to fellowship with each other, chatting over coffee.

The activities ended with delicious cake and ice cream.

In keeping with the tradition of Kwanzaa, there were accolades give to the hostess, Mrs. Lusk. She expounded on what it means to give.

Her generosity shone through in the two-day event, which also included a memorable gift to each person.
