Mrs. Alma Lynette Parker London was a strong woman of God, surrounded and loved by family, community and her Red Hat Sisters. Happily married to Willard London for 44 years, she was a member of the (Red Hat Society) for 12 years, spreading joy and enjoying life after 50 with the Nashville based, Dazzling Red Hatters Chapter. On December 30, God called Alma home, and her presence on earth is already missed.

Anything that Mrs. Alma was involved with always got 100% of her attention. Born in Charlotte, N.C. on March 19, 1929, she later relocated to Harlem, New York to live with her loving aunt, Mrs. Carrie Parker. As an adult, she moved to Philadelphia, Penn. where she met and settled down with the love of her life by marrying Mr. Willard London.

A partial synopsis of her full life consists of employment work and service to the community at large.

“My aunt was a joy to be around, she organized casino and other field trips, loved to play cards, make baskets and other crafts, enjoyed travelling, and always helped others anyway she could. Her home going has left a void for all of us and she touched many lives, leaving a painful void that only time can heal,” said Jacqueline London, one of her many nieces.

No stranger to hard work, her labor life varied over the years. It ranged from auto glass designing work to bakery and the cosmetology field. A born leader and talented multi tasker, her community service in Nashville varied from organizing community outreach events wherever possible from venues like the Matthew Walker Center to Elizabeth Park to anywhere else she and her team could gain entry. Indeed her strong, stately presence will be missed by family and friends.

And her Red Hat sisters are feeling the void of this beautiful soul. Surely heaven has welcomed lady Alma and her stunning red hat and snazzy brim as well.
