Expressions of Faith: ‘Zoe — a Godly kind of life’

Rev. Monterey D. Lee, Sr.

“I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly,” John 10:10.

The Greek word ‘Zoe’ translates as ‘life,’ and not just any kind of life, but a ‘Godly kind of life’—a life that is eternal and comes directly from God to man. It is the nature of God that exists in mankind. God wants us to know His nature and to operate fully in it. For when we know who He is, then we are able to worship Him to the fullest. You will never know the truth about God unless He reveals it to you.

John 8:32 says: “Then you will know the truth and the truth will set you free.” Do you know God as the creator, and are you walking in the fullness as His creation? Genesis 1:26 says: “And God said, let us make man in our image, after our likeness and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.”

When we live life as the creation of God and have a ‘Zoe kind of life,’ our families, jobs, homes, friends, communities, cities and states are blessed because it is God. In 2018 you must put God first as the head of your life. There cannot be any idle worship or church antics. One must honor God and have Him as Lord and Savior of their lives. You cannot put things before God such as cars, homes, friends, significant others, or even family. God comes first!

“You shall not make for yourself any image in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below,” Exodus 20:4. “I am the Lord thy God, which brought thee out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage. You shall not have any other gods before me,” Deuteronomy 5:6-7.

When you take on a Godly kind of life your old man (old nature) is passed away and your new life (new nature) becomes alive. You now live a life that is well pleasing to God.

Do you desire to live a Godly kind of life—a life that is governed by the presence of God? This must be your desire if ‘Zoe’ is going to be your life. Romans 12:1-2 says: “I beseech you therefore, brother, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”

Let your life this year be a life of devotion to God so that the blessings of God can be seen and manifest in your life. No longer can we live by our moral principles, where innocent lives are taken, families are destroyed, communities run rabid with crime and violence, with the hatred of others more prevalent than ever before. Let us live ‘Zoe’ to the fullest, which is a Godly kind of life.
