The Nashville Knights women’s professional football team are coached by the Legends Football League (LFL)’s first-ever female coach, Danika Brace, herself a prominent former LFL athlete. Nashville Municipal Auditorium is hosting the two home dates, winning the home opener on Saturday, April 21, 2018, against the Austin Acoustic and hosting the home finale on Saturday, June 23, 2018, against the Denver Dream.
Among the players on the roster are two accomplished veteran players, MLB Danielle Hawkins, who wears #10 and RB/C Dominique Maloy, who wears #3. They join #1 Molly Richardson WR/S; #2 Stevi Schnoor FB/LB; #4 Kandy Cooke DE/; #5 Austina Mellberg C/; #6 Heidi Ann TE/DE; #7 Whitney Palmer LB/TE; #8 Bobbi Wolf TE/DE; #9 Netta Carter WR/CB; #11 Rachel Bauman CB/; #12 Jordan Green WR/CB; #14 Nicole Phillips C/OL/DL; #15 KK Matheny QB; #16 Chelsea Nicole WR/CB; #17 Nene Gleaves WR/RB/S; #18 Jade Randle WR/S; #19 Amanda Bargery DE/; and #20 Steph Miller S/.
Nashville is led by their sensational quarterback KK Matheny. Through her two games this season, she has completed 13 of her 26 passing attempts for 148 yards, yielding two touchdowns with no interceptions, and she has not fumbled the ball. She led the Knights to a 51-26 victory in the home opener against the Austin Acoustic and followed that up with a 43-24 win at Seattle.
Come join us on Saturday, June 23 and learn a whole new meaning for “hits like a girl.” These women are serious athletes, many former track stars and college scholarship players in various sports. When they lace it up and the whistle blows, it is real football. Check out their YouTube channel for highlights and full games. You will be “Amazed.” (root word = Amazon; these women are warriors)!
Each team has two home games and two road games during the league’s 16-game, 16-week regular season. The Knights also have two road games this season. They won at the LFL US defending champion Seattle Mist on May 19 and finish their inaugural regular season at the Omaha Heart in Ralston Arena on July 7.
The 2018 LFL US Season, the tenth season of the LFL in the United States, began April 14 and ends August 4. After the regular season ends, the Knights are in great shape to potentially host a playoff game, and maybe even the league championship. The Western Conference (Austin, Denver, LA, and Seattle) Championship is Saturday, August 25 at 3:00 PM. The Eastern Conference (Atlanta, Chicago, Nashville, and Omaha) Championship is Saturday, August 25 at 6:00 PM. The winners meet in Legends Cup 2018 on Saturday, September 8.
