Citizens will gather at Watson Grove Baptist Church, located at 1415 Horton Ave. at 3 pm on October 28 for a meeting sponsored by Nashville Organized for Action and Hope (NOAH).

“Public trust is disappearing. More and more, people do not trust government, schools, police, and other public institutions. We can only rebuild that public trust through commitments and accountability—and by being at the table when big decisions are made,” according to members of NOAH.

The public is invited to attend this ‘Invitation to Rebuild Public Trust’ and join with over 1,000 others to meet with Mayor David Briley, Metro Council members, school board members and Metro school leaders and other Nashville elected officials.

Why is Nashville’s budget in such a mess? Why are we unable to pay teachers, firefighters, and police their promised cost-of-living raises?

How will a ‘Community Oversight Board’ establish accountability and trust between the police and the community?

What will be done about Nashville’s continuing affordable housing crisis?

Will Metro Schools stop suspensions and expulsions in elementary school that push students into the ‘school-to-prison pipeline?’

NOAH organizer Mike Hodges said: “We encourage churches to invite their members to this most important meeting. It is urgent that we are ‘at the table’ when big decisions are being made.”

With the city continuously growing, it is in the best interests of Nashville citizens to know exactly what these officials have in mind for the welfare of the city.

NOAH holds monthly meetings at Gordon Memorial United Methodist Church for members and those interested in the welfare of the city of Nashville concerning such issues as affordable housing, the police oversight board and other issues.
