Jackson Street introduces a new ministry for college and high school students

Jackson Street Missionary Baptist Church at 1209 Jackson Street will celebrate its first annual college and high school day on Sunday, November 4, during the 11 am worship service.

In an effort to recognize and offer more opportunities to youth as students, The Mix-Up ministry was developed.

“The Mix-Up is a college and high school ministry that is geared toward developing students into upright leaders who can bring others along the same path with a Christ-centered spirit geared towards achievement,” said Shatara Thompson, ministry coordinator.

Thompson is eager to bring a variety of events and activities to this ministry throughout the year.

“It is not only for our youth, but for the college and high school students of the city,” said Thompson.

All college and high school students are invited to participate in this ministry. Lonnell Mathews, Juvenile Court Clerk, will also be in attendance giving insight on some of the activities that are planned at the Juvenile Clerks office. There is a plethora of information available to college and high school students that could benefit the development of students.

“It is important to know the pitfalls as well as the positive information,” said a member of The Mix-Up. The church looks forward to great things coming from this newly developed ministry.

A reception will be held immediately following the morning worship service in celebration of The Mix-Up.
