em>Rel is a new sitcom on Fox that stars comedian ‘Lil Rel’ Howery where Jerrod Carmichael is an executive producer. He also stars as Jerrod’s brother, ‘Bobby Carmichael,’ in NBC’s comedy series The Carmichael Show. Like The Carmichael Show, Rel takes inspiration from its eponymous creator’s life and stand-up material. It is set on Chicago’s West Side, where the comic, born Milton Howery, grew up.
Howery’s first stand-up special, an installment of Comedy Central’s The Half Hours, premiered in 2013. His RELevant stand-up special premiered on Comedy Central, executive produced by Kevin Hart. The telecast was named one of the 10 best stand-up specials of 2015, becoming a fan favorite among ordinary fans, as well as comedy heavyweights.
Lil Rel’s break out role as ‘Rod the TSA agent’ came in Jordan Peele’s hit movie, Get Out. He then starred in two more blockbusters, Lionsgate’s Uncle Drew—and the ‘big one’ and best movie opening ever, Bird Box, opposite Sandra Bullock debuting on Netflix.
Rel talks about his life and tells a lot of stories in his stand-up. He also talks about social issues, politics, and some topical debates.
