A unique pairing of tasting and lecture that only a history museum could devise, the Tennessee State Museum presents a one-of-a-kind series of classes focused on the history and origins of Tennessee’s food traditions. These informative and interactive presentations will give you a taste of Tennessee cuisine and the history behind it. Presenters include historian Thaxton Waters of Build Better Tables; Jacki Fischer, Tennessee State Park Ranger and Native American food expert; Rob DeHart, Museum curator for the exhibition Let’s Eat! Origins and Evolutions of Tennessee Food; and Bioarchaeologist Keitlyn Alcantara, a community organizer who bridges food and immigrant communities. Each presentation will include a food tasting provided by the Nashville Farmer’s Market.

The classes will take place on Thursday evenings, October 3, 10, 17 & 24, in the Education Suite at the Museum. They are offered as a series and cannot be taken separately.
