Nashville Rep brings one of the greatest works of American theatre, A Streetcar Named Desire to life in the Johnson Theater of the Tennessee Performing Arts Center February 8 – 23, 2020, with Previews on February 6 & 7.

Southern belle Blanche DuBois travels to New Orleans to reunite with her sister, Stella, and to escape her past. Her affectations of refinement set her immediately at odds with Stella’s blue-collar husband, Stanley Kowalski. Blanche’s sophisticated exterior crumbles as she intertwines with their simple life and Stanley’s fierce, unpredictable personality. The apartment becomes a pressure cooker of sensuality and class tensions, ultimately erupting in some of the most iconic dramatic moments seen on the modern stage. With new music and classics from the film, this musical adaptation of Walt Disney’s masterpiece is practically perfect in every way.

The culmination of the Ingram New Works Project, the festival features the premiere public reading of all five new plays developed during the residency.
