Myth: God put sickness on my body to teach me a lesson

I want to erase this statement from the mind of everyone reading this article: God caused the sickness in your body to teach you a lesson. This is entirely false. God does not put sickness on us. No evil thing can come from God. Our God is a loving, kind and merciful God. I will include Bible base scriptures to prove this myth wrong. Today many people, even so-called ‘believers,’ utter this phrase from their lips.

Sickness and disease were a part of the curse under the Old Law. Sickness came as a result of sin. We are no longer living under the Old Law, but we are under Grace. God sent Jesus Christ who has redeemed us from the Old Law—curse of the law, which included sin, sickness, and death (Galatians 3:13).

We must realize that humans are fallen beings. We live in a world that is filled with sin, sickness, and disease. We have physical bodies that are prone to illnesses. Sickness is one of the results of the natural causes of things in our world. Sickness can also be the result of demonic attack. “To be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might, we are to put on the whole armor of God so that we will be able to stand against the wiles of the devil,” Ephesians 6:10.

Healing is the will of God, not sickness. Jesus is the revealed will of God in action. Throughout the Bible, Jesus healed many individuals with various diseases and illnesses. “I do nothing on my own but the will of the Father,” John 8:30. “If you have seen me, you have seen the Father,” John 14:7.

God designed the human body with a built-in immune system that fights against sickness and disease. There is no mention in the Bible where Jesus made people sick, blind, or cripple. Jesus is the expressed image of God the Father. Do not allow Satan to blind your mind with untruths. Read God’s word and discover the truths for yourself. “My people are perishing for a lack of knowledge,” Hosea 4:6.

Sickness was the curse for disobeying the law under the Old Covenant. God has given us authority in Luke 10:19 over all unclean spirits and over all the forces of the enemy. God called sickness and disease an oppression of Satan. “God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with The Holy Ghost and with power, He went about doing good and healing all that were oppressed of the devil, for God was with Him,” in Acts 10:38. This clearly shows that sickness does not come from God. The New Living Translation of the Bible says: “My people are being destroyed because they don’t know me,” Hosea 4:6. Get to know God and discover the true God, so that you and your loved ones can avoid many heartaches, pains, and discover the truth that is written in Gods’ word.
