Winter, spring, summer, fall—the seasons continue to change. Do you notice how you feel at certain times when the season changes? Right at the beginning of a new season, there is some type of nostalgic feeling that looms in the air. It often takes your mind to a specific place, but not always. Sometimes it takes you to a place in your mind that makes you feel good. As a matter of fact, the feeling may be so strong that you want to experience that ‘good feeling’ in the immediate future. Spring may bring on a feeling of wanting to spend a day in the park with someone special. The spring rain may make you feel like you want to spend the day watching a good movie. The list goes on.
Rev. Enoch Fuzz recently expressed his ‘good’ feeling: “I better than I’ve felt in a long time,” he said. As he continues his journey with stage four lung cancer, the spring-like days have given Rev. Fuzz, pastor of the Corinthian Missionary Baptist Church, a feeling of comfort and satisfaction as he feels good some days and feels pain other days. Yet he feels good overall as he maintains the ability to shower and dress himself. He notes that people with this same disease are not often able to do these things for themselves.
Is that a result of nostalgia? That is trust, belief and prayer. We trust that at the end of winter, around the months of March, April and no later than May, the weather will stabilize with warmth instead of the cold days of winter. We have been recently experiencing higher temperatures that allow us to trust that the cold weather will soon be gone (until it cycles again later in the year). With that change, we believe that it will bring about a change, as it will bring new experiences.
Rev. Fuzz trusts and believes that the infinite prayers are not prayers that have been prayed for naught. This new season in his journey feels new and different from the past year as the months have moved forward. We pray that the nostalgic feeling of his ‘old self’ is a lead into this season of healing.
