Sen. Brenda Gilmore tests positive for COVID – urges Tennesseans to get vaccinated

Sen. Brenda Gilmore received her first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

Tennessee state Sen. Brenda Gilmore, D-Nashville, is urging citizens to get vaccinated or boosted against COVID-19 after the senator tested positive for the coronavirus this week.

“There are very few setbacks in this life that keep me from showing up and doing the people’s work. So yesterday, it pained me greatly to receive a positive COVID-19 test,” Gilmore said. “I was proud to be one of the first Tennesseans to get vaccinated. I’m boosted as well.”

Sen. Gilmore says she will remain in quarantine until she receives a negative COVID test.

“I want to thank everyone who has reached out to offer comfort,” said Gilmore. “And I want to encourage every Tennessean to get vaccinated and mask up around others.”
