‘Cancer: My Journey in Time’ (part 103)

Rev. Enoch Fuzz

What is a friend? Who are your friends? What does it mean to be a friend to someone?

During his journey with stage four lung cancer, Rev. Enoch Fuzz, pastor of Corinthian Missionary Baptist Church, has attended many events. However, sometimes there are circumstances that won’t allow him to be involved. Rev. Fuzz was required to spend several days in the hospital for testing and observation in order to regulate his blood thinning medication because blood clots are an insidious condition and require unyielding attention.

While he was unable to attend, he was greatly represented by approximately 10 of his church’s members at the International Friendship Day at the Church of Scientology. This is a special event that Rev. Fuzz and some members of his congregation always attend. There are many ways to define a friend. A definition is most likely to include something about seeing that a person has happiness. Often being a friend will make sure that can be achieved. On International Friendship Day, Scientology churches around the world hold open houses and community forums in order for religious and civic leaders and officials to attend and coordinate actions to help uplift their communities. A long-time friend and associate of Rev. Fuzz, Rev. Brian Fesler, is the pastor of the Church of Scientology in Nashville.

“We love bringing a diverse group of people together and demonstrating the power of friendship,” said Rev. Fesler. “Most of life’s problems come from our basic misunderstanding of each other—a misunderstanding of intentions. Getting along with one another starts with getting to know each other.”

This was the 7th annual Friendship Day and an event that members of Rev. Fuzz’s congregation participated in. While he was unable to attend, Rev. Fuzz’s belief is: “It’s easy to hate people from a distance, but you can’t love God and hate people no matter how far away you are.”

Rev. Fuzz is still supportive of many events, even when he is unable to attend. Because of his dedicated friendships, he is often represented whenever the need arrives. Whatever your definition of friendship may be, it is important to know and grow relationships and friendships with other human beings—no matter their religion, race, background, ethnicity, or all the other things that make us different.

Ponder the three questions asked at the beginning of this article. You’re the only one that can answer according to your relationships and definition.

Please continue to pray for Rev. Fuzz and his situation with the blood clots and blood thinning medications. He says that prayer is the answer. He will also continue to pray for you and the relationships of friends. Check out Rev. Fuzz’s Facebook site as he gives praise through words, songs, and photos. You will be blessed. Thanks for reading and sharing ‘Cancer: My Journey in Time’ each week.
