“In the picture with me is North Nashville neighbor, Reginald Edwards,” said Rev. Fuzz. “I wanted to highlight Mr. Edwards in this week’s journey because his kindness reminded me of the good in our community that often goes unnoticed or never acknowledged. We’re so swift to point to the negative encounters in our daily lives, but how about this refreshing story about Reginald Edwards who when a delivery driver left my expensive package at the wrong address, immediately took his time to walk two streets over to deliver it to the right address to a very grateful pastor, Enoch Fuzz.
I was just home from the hospital when I saw Reginald knocking on my door. I wasn’t feeling great but attempted to mask my poor health as I answered the door and received my long-awaited order. When I was informed about the delivery mix-up, I felt honored to meet a nice, friendly, and honest young man. Plus, I wanted this young man to know that when you do good things, good will happen to you. Thank you Reginald Edwards for being a great neighbor.”
These words from Rev. Enoch Fuzz are an excellent example of what a good neighbor looks like. As I wrote last week, it is also an example of the actions of a friend. There is a Bible verse that says something like: “When I desire to do good, evil is always present.” It is also, in turn, the other way around also. With all of the evil present every day all around us, there are still people like Reginald Edwards. A plethora of these ‘do good’ stories are also ever-present.
We continue to ask for prayers for Rev. Enoch Fuzz as he continues his journey with stage four lung cancer. It has currently brought him to another situation. He has been scheduled for surgery on the polyps that formed on his vocal cords. He will have them removed on August 11. We pray for a successful surgery that should solve the problem. Pray that it is done with no complications. The insidious blood clots “require fervent prayers of God’s people,” said Rev. Fuzz. “Please keep me lifted in prayer this week. To God be the glory. And special thanks to my Corinthian Church family for the amazing support for their minister during this illness.”
When we pray, carve a little space out to recognize and thank God for those moments of good that you may have experienced in a day that might otherwise have been filled with chaos.
