Expressions of faith

Bishop-Elect Dr. Monterey D. Lee, Sr.

Mortify [put to death] what belongs to your earthly nature and your members of evil desires.

  • Sexual sin [immorality or fornication]
  • Impurity [uncleanness]
  • Lust [inordinate affection]
  • Evil desire [concupiscence]
  • Greed which is a form idolatry [covetousness]

We have to cut them off just like cutting off limbs of a tree. They must be cut off before they destroy us. We must make a conscious, daily decision to remove anything that supports or feeds these desires—anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth, lying to one to another, sexual sin, lust, greed and impurity.

These things arouse the wrath [the extreme anger of God]. These things are a set up and a trick of the enemy to destroy you. The enemy wants you to do these things so that the anger of God will come on the children of disobedience.

“For the wrath of God came on the children of disobedience,” Colossians 3:6. This includes turning from God and to have the wrath [punishment] of God come upon you. This is a setup! People you cannot let the enemy play with your mind. Stop and think first before you do or say anything. Say to yourselves today: I will not be tricked again by the enemy. He wants you to mess up, be dirty, make a mess of your life—misdirect you, ruin you, have you screw up, make a wreck of your life or spoil you with lies.

As Christian’s you are Christ’s seed and Christ lives within you, so He can shape you into what you should be. You have died once; you don’t have to die again. Christ has given you power over the enemy to live for Him in your new life. What you used to walk in, you don’t walk in anymore. You are renewed in the knowledge of God each day. The games are over in your life!

There’s no more being played with by the adversary [the conflicted one]. This time around you are going to think because you don’t want any more tricks. You once walked in these things when you were living in sin [the old man)], but now you have put away all the ways of the flesh [the old you].
