Belmont University partners with Slim + Husky’s Pizzeria to open new on-campus location

Co-founder/CEO Emanuel ‘E.J.’ Reed.

Belmont University and Sodexo today announced that Nashville-based pizzeria Slim + Husky’s will open its newest location on Belmont’s campus this fall. Slim + Husky’s motto (Pizza. Art. Music.) is embedded into every detail of their restaurant, down to the clever menu names and flavors, aesthetics, and overall customer experience.

The Slim + Husky brand was founded by three best friends in their North Nashville neighborhood in 2017. Co-founder/CEO Emanuel ‘E.J.’ Reed is a familiar face to Belmont’s campus as an alumnus, himself.

“Belmont taught me several lessons as a graduate student. Among the most important was the power of preparation and focus on building—whether that’s preparing yourself for a new career, building a strong team as a leader or scaling your emerging small business,” said Reed. “Belmont was instrumental in my development as a young entrepreneur. I am honored to have this opportunity as an alum and look forward to Slim + Husky’s being a part of Belmont’s continued growth.”

The pizzeria aims to bring a diverse, fun atmosphere to the fast-casual pizza scene. Slim + Husky’s is on a mission to serve awesome pizza while impacting the communities where they operate.

“We are thrilled to welcome Slim + Husky’s to Belmont as they open their newest location on our campus,” said Belmont President Dr. Greg Jones. “I am grateful for the incredible example that E.J. and his team will be for our community, exemplifying the entrepreneurial mindset we seek to instill in every student across our campus. We look forward to the flourishing of this new and exciting partnership.”

In addition to its signature artisan pizzas and cinnamon rolls, Slim + Husky’s Belmont location will debut two new menu items: roasted chicken wings and breakfast flats.

“Slim + Husky’s is a natural fit for Belmont University. Their national reputation for quick service and unique menu items will appeal to all members of the campus community, from students to faculty and staff,” said Tom Williamson, resident district manager for Sodexo Universities. “Working with their team has been seamless since this project began and we can’t wait for their grand opening later this month.”

Slim + Husky’s will have operating hours of 8 am to 7 pm, Monday through Thursday; 8 am to 5 pm, Fridays; and 2-8 pm, Sundays. Food can be ordered to-go or enjoyed in the location’s seating area featuring updated décor inspired by art, music, and hip-hop culture.

Slim + Husky’s will celebrate its official opening with a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on Tuesday, August 22, at 11:30 am.
