“Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for Him: fret not yourself over the one who prospers in his ways,” Psalm 37:7.
Patience is the capacity to tolerate challenges or delays without getting upset or angry. God works on us so we don’t lose our temper with Him or others. This is a time of growing and waiting on God to change our circumstances. When we are patient or long suffering, we are at a place were we are waiting on the Lord to give clarity concerning His will for our lives. Clarity perfects your faith in God and leads you to perfection in Him not in yourself.
“Let patience have her perfect work [show itself perfectly in what you do], that you may be perfect and entire [complete], wanting nothing [having everything you need],” James 1:4.
God’s design for your life is for you to know the depth of your character so your reactions are godly when you are under pressure. God’s desire is to mature you and complete you in the time of your struggles so you will become more wise and more knowledgable in your ways. This is why we should see patience as an opportunity for steadfastness and perseverance. In doing so, we will achieve God’s will that He has for us. We will overcome obstacles in our lives, and build endurance and strength in our inner person [the inner power]. This will keep us calm in challenging times and difficulties that will come our way.
“With patience we should wait for it to come,” Romans 8:26b.
In this day and time we must endure, because this is the Christian virtue for a full life in God as He works on us. Let God work on you! Let God work on you, so you don’t regret the wrong words that you have spoken to someone. Let God work on you, so you make the right decisions. Let God work on you to better your life. The Christian virtues that we receive from God when we are being patient and God is working on us include: prudence (wisdom and good judgment), temperance (self-control), fortitude (strength of mind, and strength of character), and justice (fairness). In this life we are to seek to cultivate and practice all the virtues that God has for us.
“Make me to know Your ways, Lord; teach me Your paths. Lead me in Your truth and teach me, for You are the God of my salvation; for You I will wait all the day long,” Psalm 25:4-5.
So patiently wait for God and acknowledge His sovereign power and spiritual strength with love for you as you wait on His superior, rational releasing into our hearts.
“They who wait patiently for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint,” Isaiah 40:31.
