Faith of A Mustard Seed

This commentary explores Elon Musk’s South African origins, Trump’s second presidency, and Jeffrey Robinson’s insights on American power dynamics. It warns of historical parallels and the dangers of mental slavery.

Barbara A. Woods Washington, M. Div.

How ironic for me in Black History month 2025 to highlight the South African born, Elon Musk. Errol Musk, the most elusive father of Elon was born in South Africa, making Elon Musk at least a second generation born African. How fraudulent and delusory of Trump’s 1st Presidency in his occupation with Obama’s birth right; when now, he is being led into his 2nd Presidency by a 2nd generation born… African!

A surface look at Elon’s father Errol, can only be detected. Errol was an engineer and owned an Emerald Mine making Elon, like Donald Trump, born into great wealth. Notable for me is the fact that several countries in their quest for who Errol Musk is say so little on his life, save the reported over and over again that his youngest of seven children is born by his stepdaughter; who was four years old when Errol married his youngest child’s grandmother.

“Elon, at 46, in 2018 has made no secret of his feelings towards his father, breaking down in tears during an interview with Rolling Stone magazine.  “My dad will have a carefully thought out plan of evil, he said.  He will plan evil.”  He alleged his father had committed almost every crime you can possibly think of and done almost every evil thing you could possibly think of.”

I began my study for this Column to introduce the Memphis born Jeffrey Robinson, Harvard Law, Executive Director of “The Who We Are Project” and former Deputy Legal Director of the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU).  In viewing the Presentation “Jeffrey Robinson vs. Trump” from 2012, he begins with a clip from the movie “Cabaret”, which had technical difficulties in the moment of his Presentation, so he set up the scene from a Beer Garden in Berlin and sang the song:  “Oh, fatherland, fatherland, show us the sign, Your children have waited to see, The morning will come when the world is mine, Tomorrow belongs to me”.  The young blonde singer was now standing, raising his hand in the ‘heil Hitler salute’.

In viewing the story of Elon Musk’s take over in Germany with the purchase of “Tesla”, now the foundation for his rise to become the “Richest Man on The Planet”, Musk is shown raising his hand in… the ‘heil Hitler salute’.

This week, Elon has now accessed the United States Government’s Payment System and also claimed that Trump gave him the power to shut down “USAID”.  Representative Jasmin Crocket, presently one of the most clearest voices from the Nation’s Capital, in a press interview this week has revealed that his wealth, since the day that Trump returned to the White House, has already increased by several Billion dollars.

The post was made on Facebook this week: “Who is going to sue Elon and the US on behalf of the American people? I didn’t consent to access my personal information.” With the flurry of chatter, the comments persisted; thier WHO being identified as “Jeffrey Robinson. The ACLU”.

One comment is notable where the commentator says: “His niece, Mary Trump tried to tell everybody about her uncle Donald J. Trump.  Y’all wouldn’t listen.  Y’all didn’t think that he meant what he was saying.  Y’all thought he was just joking around.  Y’all wanted to give up y’all freedom and be controlled by one man, yeah Donald Trump insurrection, and who was blocked the first time, so now that he’s been elected and given power he’s deceptively carrying out an insurrection and coup from the White House inside the oval office and over turning the American government right before the American peoples eyes.  Wow they’re standing around watching him do it.”

It’s black history month and my comment there was: “South African born Elon Musk is bringing Apartheid to America while we lie asleep.  Poor and Working class White America is the new ‘stolen people’.”  I added a Meme to my comment that is among my saved truths: “Mental Slavery is the worst form of slavery.  It gives you the illusion of freedom. Makes you trust, love and defend your oppressor while making enemy of those who are trying to free you or open your eyes.”

Returning home to American to his post, at the time as Professor of Philosophy and Religion at Union Theological Seminary in Harlem, Paul Tillich questioned the ‘appearance of a healthy people’— “we hear that of all illnesses, mental illness is by far the most wide spread in this country. What does this mean?”  “…There may be something in the structure of our institutions which produces illness in more and more people.”
