I think many—if not all—of us would agree that we are living in some bad times.

These are days that test our character and challenge our faith.

We have leadership in the White House that has turned the Presidency of the United States into something resembling a real-life episode of House of Cards.

The least, the last, and the lowly are being left behind; the rich get richer while the poor get poorer. Too many people are looking out only for themselves instead of for one another. Our children are killing each other in the streets, and every time you turn on the television, there is news of yet another shooting.

Just when you think you have heard it all, something else happens that makes you shake your head. Yes—these are some bad times.

If you are a child of God seeking to walk the straight and narrow path, the reality is that you will run into the Devil every now and then. In fact, the only way you aren’t running into the Devil is if you’re running with the Devil.

But while these may be bad times, there is also some good news.

Brothers and sisters, for every worry there is a word; for every trouble, there is a truth; and for every mess, God has a message!

The book of Nahum tells us in 1:7, “The Lord is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble; and He knows those who trust in Him.”

Nahum is one of those lesser-known, often-overlooked books of the Bible. Though considered a “minor” prophet because of its brevity, Nahum delivers a major message in this verse:

Whatever you are going through, remember—the Lord is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble; and He knows those who trust in Him.
