Expressions of Faith:
Can you lose your salvation?

Rev. William Watson
Rev. William Watson

In Matthew 7:21-23, Jesus gives us a few scriptures from His sermon on the mount. “Not everyone that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the Kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? and then will I profess unto them I never knew you depart from me, ye that work iniquity.”

These scriptures should stick in every Christian’s heart who is not doing the will of God, but living in the world as they sit in a pew singing and praising God on Sunday. In other words, pews are filled with those who practice ‘religion’ only on Sundays, but when they leave church, they revert back to their old ways of living the ways of the world. Are you faithfully reading your Bible daily to see what is expected of you? If so, do you pray daily that the Holy Spirit will give you guidance and understanding?

Many do not care, they simply think that going to church on Sunday is enough. Worship isn’t done in the church, it’s done in the mission field. That starts outside the door of the church when you go back into the world. That’s where the true worship begins in doing the will of God and being a witness to the ungodly. The following scriptures was spoken by Jesus. Read them in your Bible and see what they mean to you: (John 14:15); (John 14:21); (John 14;23); (John 15:10). These scriptures will keep you from having a misunderstanding of how God works through us to keep us in the faith. Can one lose their salvation? You can’t lose what you never had.
