Mt. Lebanon Missionary Baptist Church, 222 Franklin Limestone Rd., will see members, family and friends gather to give honor to Rev. Dr. James J. Green and Pearlette K. Green, first lady, on Sunday, November 27. The date will mark the sixth year anniversary of Green serving as a faithful servant of Mt. Lebanon as pastor.

The members of Mt. Lebanon have been gearing up for this day for quite a while. In late October, a fashion show was held as a fundraiser. Mr. and Mrs. Scott Morgan sponsored ‘A Fashion Display’ in an effort to create funding for the activities to be held in celebration of Rev. Dr. Green’s sixth anniversary. The fashion show included a display of Christian wear. Many of the members, along with the first lady, showed off their fashions.

Rev. Green has always been an advocate of Christian development through employment and education. Some several years ago, he had buttons printed with a mantra declaring, ‘I Can Do!’ Since his tenure at Mt. Lebanon, he continues that same spirit through efforts that include community development, and Christian education through inclusion and diversity.

“We are looking to build a system that serves as a resource for employment opportunities,” said Green.  “Currently, we receive job opportunities and share them with our e-mail data base, as well as posting on our bulletin board.”

He looks to expand that program by offering assistance in building resumes and assisting with job applications.

The sixth year pastoral anniversary will begin with the 11 am worship experience where Rev. Brian K. Smith, senior pastor of First Baptist Church, Richpond, Ky. will be the servant leader. Following the morning worship, dinner will be served.

An afternoon worship experience will begin at 3 pm, with Rev. Napoleon Harris V, senior pastor of First Baptist Church South Inglewood, will be the servant leader.

The chosen scriptures for this occasion include: “And, I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding,” Jeremiah 3:15; also 2 Timothy 4:2; and Romans 10:14.
