Isaiah 26:3 says: “He will keep you in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee because you trust in Him.”
God’s word tells us that his “perfect peace” is available to us. No other peace remotely compares with God’s perfect peace. His peace is beautiful, complete, absolute, and never changing. Isaiah 26:3 tells us exactly how to obtain God’s perfect peace in our lives. Our Heavenly Father will always do His part if we will do our part. His part is to keep us in perfect peace. Our part is to keep our minds stayed on Him and to trust Him completely. This is the opposite of what most of us do when we are faced with a crisis. We find ourselves playing mind games.
When there is a crisis, we stay focused on the problem that we are faced with instead of a solution. We constantly turn these problems over and over in our minds. Instead of trusting completely in God, we find ourselves trusting partially in ourselves and partially in God. This is an overkill by doing exactly the opposite of God’ instructions. By doing so, it leaves us far away from the perfect peace that we can experience in Him.
Every believer will face battles in their life at some point in time. Satan got to Adam and Eve by cunningly seducing and corrupting their minds. We must be on guard against this same device. Even as the serpent deceived Eve by his cunning ways, your minds can be corrupt and seduced from whole-hearted, sincere, and pure devotion to God. God wants us to keep our minds stayed on Him because He wants us to always be single-minded. Christians who aren’t single-minded risk the problems that attack people who are double-minded. James 1:8 says: “A man (mankind) of two minds is unstable, unreliable, and uncertain about everything they do.” Double-minded Christians are vulnerable. One day they’re full of faith, defying the problem that they are faced with and boldly claiming the promises of God by praising Him and thanking Him. However, when there is no immediate result of a solution their minds often are filled with doubt. They are hesitant with fear. James 1:6-7 teaches: “For he that waivers is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall receive anything of the Lord.”
God wants us to look only one way—at Him. No matter what problems come into our lives, He wants us to take our eyes off the problem and keep them on Him. If we do this, the glorious light of Our Lord Jesus Christ will shine in our lives. “If therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light,” Matthew 6:22.
To remove yourself from playing mind games, follow the instructions of God’s word. The word of God tells us to cast out disturbing thoughts and stop them from getting into our minds by keeping every one of our thoughts always on the Lord. When you cast down imaginations, high things that exalt themselves against the knowledge of God and bring them into captivity, every thought that you have will be under the obedience of Christ. Stay focused constantly on the Lord and He will keep you in perfect peace, while your mind is stayed on Him.
