Faith (part 2)

There are many examples of faith that are recorded in The Bible. The entire book of Hebrews shows the names and circumstances of individuals and their faith in God. They believed what God said and acted on his words and they were rewarded with many wonderful blessings.

It is your faith that makes you sure of what you hope for and gives you proof of what you cannot see. It was faith that made many of our ancestors pleasing to God. You must keep your eyes on Jesus, who leads us and makes your faith complete (Romans 1:16).

Every child of God can defeat the world (including sickness), and it’s your faith in Jesus that gives you the victory. No one can have victory over worldly things without having faith in Jesus as the Son of God (1 John 5:4). The more you practice your faith by saying what God’s word says, the stronger your faith will become. You will begin to see evidence of what you believe from God. Remember that faith comes by hearing and by hearing God’s word (Romans 10:17).

The only people who can walk in victory over the world are born again believers in Jesus Chris. “For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world-our faith. Who is he who overcomes the world but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God,” 1 Peter 5:4. As born again believers we have victory over worldly enticements that is available to us daily. Our spiritual foe wants to draw us into ungodly areas that our flesh craves. To be victorious we must stay rooted in Christ daily. We enter into the victory of Christ by placing our faith in Him.

Jesus overcame all that came against Him, including Satan. We are God’s children, and have overcome the world, because of Christ who is in us. He who is in us is greater than he who is in the world (1 John 4:4). When the enemy cannot destroy us through direct attack, he still tries to pull us down by using temptations available to him through the world system. Remember, we are over-comers through our faith in Jesus.

“That we are to be self controlled, because your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him by standing firm in the faith,” 1 Peter 5:8. As you walk by faith in Jesus, His grace will bring blessings into your life. There are the blessings of the assurance and security of salvation along with protection from the enemy (Satan) that manifests in our lives through faith.
