Hospital Authority Board elects new officers, welcomes new member

Richard Manson, JD

At the July board meeting, the NGH Hospital Authority Board elected new officers for fiscal year 2024:

  • Board Chair Richard Manson, JD
  • Vice Chair Dr. Raymond Martin
  • Secretary Michelle Gaskin Brown, JD

Richard Manson, JD has served as the board chair since July 2022 and was re-elected pending reappointment. Originally appointed in September 2016, Manson’s current term ends in September of this year. With this being a mayoral and Metro council election year, Manson’s reappointment is pivotal to continuing the work this board has done to support Nashville General Hospital and its mission to provide essential healthcare services to the citizens of Nashville and Davidson County.

The Hospital Authority board also welcomed new member Christy Smith, CFP, CIMA, AIF, and CRPC to serve a five-year term. Ms. Smith is the senior vice president of investments and branch manager of Wells Fargo Advisors in Brentwood, Tenn.

“Providing affordable, exceptional, and comprehensive healthcare to underserved communities has been the cornerstone of the mission of Nashville General Hospital for more than a century,” said the hospital in a news release. “Living this mission out takes a dedicated, talented leadership team supported by a strong board of directors.”

The 11-member Hospital Authority Board oversees Nashville General Hospital for the city of Nashville. Members are appointed by the mayor and confirmed by Metro Council. Hospital Authority meetings are held the last Thursday of each month at 4:30 pm in the Nashville General Hospital Board Room.
