“Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, cursed is every one that hangs on a tree. Christ humbled himself by being obedient unto God, even obedient unto death or to the point of death, even to death on a cross. Jesus Christ was willing to give up His life for the sake of all mankind,” Galatians 3:13.
“When the fullness of time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those under the law, that we might receive adoption to become son and daughter of God. Because you are His sons and daughters, God sent the Spirit of His Son into our hearts, the Spirit who calls out Abba, Father. So you are no longer a slave (under the law), but God’s child; and since you are His child, God has made you also an heir and a joint heir with Jesus Christ,” Galatians 4:4-7.
The curse of sin or the consequences of sin that at one point had us bound is over. The curse that was on our life is over. The consequences of Adam and Eve’s disobedience in the garden of Eden against God is over. The way we at one point lived, that was outside of the will of God is over. The old life that brought about the curse of sin because of our rebellion is over. And the sin which brought about death and suffering into the world is now over for the believer that is in Christ. The curse is now removed and done away with. There is no more separation from God, because Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us. As it is written, ‘cursed is everyone who hung on a tree.’ This means that according to the Old Testament law, anyone that is executed was hanged on a tree. This it to symbolize that you were cursed by God, and the ultimate punishment and shame was on you. But Jesus, who is referred to us as the Redeemer, saved us from our sin and reconciled us with God through His death and resurrection.
The word is a metaphor that means ‘buying back’ or ‘paying for.’ Our redemption can refer to deliverance from sin or freedom from captivity. Jesus is considered the perfect sacrifice because He never sinned and took on the punishment for mankind. His death on the cross paid the price for all of our sins. His resurrection from three days of death demonstrated that He was victorious over sin and death. He took our place on the cross and became our substitute. This is why we are redeemed, and the blessings that are given to Abraham might come to all through Christ Jesus—so that by faith we might receive the promise of the Spirit. This is the full right and privilege given to the believer with God. This is the joy we have with our redemption. He hears our prayer and will answer. The Redeemer loves us and will help us do whatever is essential—things that bring happiness now and forever. We have a spiritual life as we are influenced by the Holy Spirit to be filled with the Spirit and with joy. This is how deliverance and salvation comes to us through the blood, which paid the penalty for our sins to give us the riches of His grace. Jesus’ grace is poured on us.
This is why God has highly exalted Jesus. God gave Him a name which is higher then every other name. At the resurrection and before the ascension of Christ, God gave the highest name to Him and positioned Him in heaven to be seated at the highest.
“The Lord Jesus, after He had spoken to them, was taken up into heaven and sat down at the right hand of God,” Mark 16:19.
“But from now on the Son of Man shall be seated at the right hand of power of God,” Luke 22:69.
“God exalted Him at His right hand as Leader and Savior, to give repentance to Israel and forgiveness of sin,” Acts 5:31.
Jesus is God in salvation, as Yahweh saves and is Rescuer and Deliverer. Jesus is the Son of God. Jesus is my heart fixer, my burden bearer, my soon becoming king, and my mind regulator. Jesus is Lord.
