The Equity Alliance’s Black on Buchanan is a vibrant display of Blackness in North Nashville. Black on Buchanan is a celebration of Black joy, excellence, freedom and our fight for Black liberation. The block party is hosted in an area that is home and refuge to generations of Black Nashvillians.
Set on historic Buchanan Street, a place that has long been a home, a haven, and a heartbeat for generations of Black Nashvillians. By hosting the event there, they are honoring our past and celebrating the bright future ahead of us. This family-friendly celebration honors our rich legacy while turning up for the bright future ahead.
The day will be filled with live music, DJs, cultural performances, and the sounds of celebration echoing through the block. The Black on Buchanan Vendor Village will feature over 125 Black-owned small businesses, nonprofit partners, and community organizations. They’re also excited to host the Black on Buchanan Art & Craft Fair, highlighting local Black artists and creatives showcasing everything from handmade goods to fine art.
Bring the whole fam out! There’s a KidZone with games and activities for the little ones, delicious food trucks, and something for everyone to enjoy. Whether you’re shopping, vibing to the music, connecting with the community, or simply soaking in the joy of Black freedom, Black on Buchanan is the place to be to celebrate this Juneteenth on Saturday, June 14 from 3:00 – 8:00 PM CDT.

The Equity Alliance (TEA) is a statewide nonpartisan nonprofit organization with chapters in Nashville, Memphis, Clarksville, and Murfreesboro, providing Black people in Tennessee the tools to take action on the issues that impact their daily lives to choose the quality of life they want. They meet Black voters where they are to equip them with the tools to have the confidence and capacity to participate in civic processes fully. They believe those impacted by the issues have the best solutions, so they resist, persist, assemble, and, most importantly, vote. They envision a world where Black communities are thriving and have equitable access to power, resources, and the freedom to choose our quality of life.
