NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The Matthew Walker Comprehensive Health Center is inviting new and expecting mothers to its annual Mommy to “Bee” Baby Shower, set for Saturday, April 18, at its North Nashville campus.
The event, which runs from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the health center’s location on 14th Avenue North, is designed to support women who are currently pregnant or who have given birth within the past six months. Organizers say the baby shower is part of the center’s broader mission to improve maternal and child health outcomes in the community.
Participants will have access to a range of free educational sessions focused on key topics for new mothers, including pediatric care, postpartum depression, and health and nutrition. In addition to the informational programming, attendees will also be eligible for giveaways and door prizes.
The Mommy to “Bee” Baby Shower has become a staple event for the health center, offering both practical resources and a sense of community for mothers navigating early parenthood. By bringing together healthcare providers, educators, and local organizations, the event aims to connect families with services that can support them beyond the day of the program.
A variety of community partners and healthcare organizations will be on hand as featured vendors. This year’s participants include A Step Ahead of Middle Tennessee, Ambetter, Be Smart for Kids, Birth Manifesta, the BlueCare Maternity Initiative, Grow Together with MNPS (Early Learning), Help to Moms, Homeland Heart Birth & Wellness, Kappa Lambda Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Nashville Strong Babies, Tennessee State University’s Department of Public Health, UnitedHealthcare Community Plan of Tennessee, and Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital’s Department of Pediatric Trauma, Surgery and Injury Prevention Program.
Organizers say the diverse group of vendors ensures that attendees can access a wide range of information and services, from prenatal care and early childhood education to injury prevention and maternal wellness resources.
The event is made possible through the support of Ambetter and BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee, whose sponsorship helps provide free programming and materials for participants.

Matthew Walker Comprehensive Health Center, recognized as Nashville’s oldest nonprofit medical center, has long served as a critical healthcare resource for underserved communities. Events like the Mommy to “Bee” Baby Shower reflect the organization’s continued commitment to addressing health disparities and promoting healthy families.
Registration is required to attend the event. Those interested in participating are encouraged to email Shanika Kidd at shanika.kidd@mwchc.org for additional information and to secure a spot.
Organizers say they hope the event not only equips mothers with essential knowledge, but also fosters connections that will support families well beyond the early stages of motherhood.
