Nashville Fashion Week proves fabulous!

Even though Nashville’s Fashion Week is fairly new to the city and surrounding areas, people have been planning this major event for many years. It finally happened April 2-6. This year’s event consisted of up and coming designers showcasing their work to the community and general public in an array of venues.

Fashion Week is put on by a collaboration of volunteers, retail businesses, sponsors and media professionals who have all partnered together to put on a successful week spotlighting the many aspects of fashion and all that comes along with it.

From classy boutiques to fashion runway shows, industry panels (not to mention the parties), the week seemed to be a glowing success.

“This week has been simply awesome,” said a female attendee after Saturday’s showcase at Anthem, 125 12th Avenue North, Nashville.

One main venue hosting an event for the week was Kocktails and Kouture, 316 11th Avenue South, located downtown in ‘The Gulch.’ The two owners, Blair and Baley Bodden, who are also sisters, put forward a unique combination of an up-scale classy restaurant and boutique. You could eat, drink and shop—all in one location.

One of the week’s main goals was to highlight as well as shine the spotlight on emerging designers, giving them major publicity in this multi-billion dollar a year fashion industry. Proceeds from the numerous events and galas supported the Nashville Fashion Forward Fund. The fund provides an annual award to the talent selected from a panel of judges.

Next year’s Nashville Fashion Week promises to be even bigger and better!
