For many students this ends the first quarter of exams or a point in their studies when they realize they need to study more. My children have learned over the years just because one is finished with homework does not mean that one is finished, because there is always a need to study.
Students need to study to prepare for exams, for the next lesson, and for greater understanding of their homework. Studying is critical to academic success, and it is also important to spiritual success.
Although many of us have long left behind the woes of homework, quizzes, and tests, we still need to study. We need study God’s Word.
In 2 Timothy 2:15, Paul provided Timothy with these words of wisdom, “Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman who needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” There are too many laborers in the God’s Kingdom who are ashamed of their faith and beliefs, and who cannot rightly divide the word of truth because they have not invested any study in God’s word.
If we invested the time in reflecting and meditating on God’s Word, we would have the ability to tap into power that is able to work miracles in our lives, bring about change in our situations, and strengthens us in adversity.
We would also have the ability to discern what is truth and what is a lie when hearing the Word of God. We needeth not to be ashamed, because if we studied the Word, we will know when advice, preaching, and behaviors do not align with the Word of God. Studying the Word is not scrolling down Facebook posts.
Studying the Word is not listening to the preacher preach. Studying the Word is not using Bible verses or bits and pieces of a Bible verse to defend one actions. Studying the Word is reflecting and meditating on Scripture, memorizing Bible verses with the intent of integrating them into our daily living and theological understanding of our experiences, and discussing God’s Word, not arguing over it. We needeth not to be ashamed. When we engage God’s Word in this way, we will not be swayed easily with false teachings and our faith will grow.
The devil wants us to be ashamed. His goal for us is to steal the Word of God from us and make us doubt it. When we are under spiritual attack, we must hold on to God’s word.
The devil knows Scripture. The devil can feed us Scripture, and make it sound so good, that it sounds like the truth, but it is not. This is why it is even more important for us to study the Word. We cannot be ashamed of this Word, we have to know that we know that we know.
We must believe it no matter how difficult our circumstances are, and how much are circumstances look like God’s Word is not true.
As we go through, if we apply God’s Word, we will see the manifestation of God’s Word and have a better understanding of who God is and what God’s Word means to each one of us. We needeth not to be ashamed.
We need to be thankful for God’s Word. The Word of God is the Bible, and it is the revelation of Jesus Christ, he is the Living Word.
We needeth not be ashamed, because the Word saves, forgives, and it will lead to eternal life. Take some time today to study God’s Word!
