Fans of the international sensation Doctor Who are thrilled to have the opportunity to meet Ellis George at a new convention coming to Clarksville. Ms. George plays a recurring character on the wildly popular British television program. The new convention is the only ‘Doctor Who exclusive’ convention in the Nashville – Middle Tennessee area. The event entitled ‘Con-GT’; will premiere Friday, March 13 through Sunday, March 15 at the Riverview Inn.

George’s character is called Courtney Woods and appears in episodes transmitted during the just completed eighth series (season) of the program, seen in the U.S. on BBCAmerica. As a rambunctious but precociously brilliant student at Coal Hill School, Courtney learns that her favorite teacher Clara Oswald is the traveling companion of the show’s eponymous title character popularly referred to as Doctor Who, but is more properly called The Doctor.

And when I say traveling companion, it’s traveling through space and time in the T.A.R.D.I.S., which is an acronym for Time And Relative Dimension In Space, which appears to be a big blue Police Call Box that truly is “bigger on the inside” as in huge and vast. Courtney gets to travel with the Doctor and Clara and even set foot on the moon (in a space suit, of course) in the ‘Kill the Moon’ episode. Miss George will provide commentary during a special screening of the episode Saturday at 5 pm; her presentation and ‘question and answer’ is set for 11 am that day, as well. On Sunday at 3 pm, she will participate in an open discussion along with the other guests.

Other guests scheduled to appear at the convention include Andrew Cartmel, Robin Burks, and Legs Nose Robinson. Burks is the author of Zeus, Inc. and The Curse of Hecate. Legs Nose Robinson is a Doctor Who inspired band who write, perform and record songs about ‘The Doctor’ and will perform at ‘The Doctor Dances’ on Saturday night at 8:30 pm. Cartmel is a British author and journalist, and former script editor of Doctor Who. He has also worked as a script editor on other television series, as a magazine editor, as a comics writer, as a film studies lecturer, and as a novelist. Wear that special costume Saturday afternoon and enter the 2:30 pm Cosplay Contest to win $50 Vendor Cash. Audience Favorite wins $100 Vendor Cash.

VIP Packages, $109, include Friday Night VIP Party with guests, professional portrait with Ellis George at VIP party, admission to all panels and events Saturday and Sunday, a t-shirt and other goodies. Two-Day Advance Purchase, $44, includes admission to all panels and events Saturday and Sunday. Saturday Only Pass, $34, allows admission to Con-GT Saturday, March 14. The Sunday Only Pass, $24, gets you admission Sunday March 15. Tickets are available on Eventbrite through the convention website .
