Friends, family, and church members gathered to celebrate the legacy of Dorothy Lee Smith on her 95th birthday on May 3.

The mistress of ceremonies, Susie McFarland, led everyone into a program that began with a corsage presentation by the Daughter Ruler of the Elks Lodge, Mrs. Francine Renee Hollowell.

After the guests enjoyed a simple meal with Mrs. Smith, tributes were made in her honor in the form of verbal presentations, song, piano and bell ringing.

Joe Smith gave a musical tribute.  Afterwards, church members from Clark Memorial UMC and participants of the mid-day/mid-week service offered a testament of her christian dedication and presented her with a beautiful basket along with musical bell-ringing selections.

Ronnie Miller (neighbor), Mary Watson (member of Temple Church), Francine Hollowell (Elks Daughter Ruler), Les Jones (Elks Leading Knight) and others contributed with great words of affection.

A cake was then presented to Mrs. Smith for everyone to enjoy.

With tears of joy, Dorothy Smith made her remarks with graciousness and thankfulness, saying: “Thanks for giving me my flowers while I’m here.”

Happy birthday, Mrs. Smith!
