Each fourth Friday in the month of July, the United Methodist Men of Clark Memorial United Memorial Church hosts a big fish fry. During this year, Clark is celebrating 150 years in ministry, and it is with great anticipation that tickets have already been in circulation for the purchase of fish, barbecue and all of the fixings for the 69th annual Fish Fry and Barbecue to be held at the church at 1014 14th Ave. N. from 11 am-7 pm.
Due to the high volume of participation, changes in receiving orders have been ‘tweaked’ in order to give the best possible service to each purchase.
“We are pleased to serve the community with their Friday lunch and it is our desire to provide the best experience possible in their support,” said Melvin Kirk, president of the Clark United Methodist Men. “We have studied our past process and our increase in volume, and made changes to accommodate visitors and pick-up orders in a way that would expedite each order.”
Pre-sale tickets are currently being sold; however, on the day of the fish fry there are several methods of placing orders: telephone 615-329-4464; fax 615-321-0975; e-mail Over the years, there are many visitors that come in to socialize, fellowship and meet-and-greet. Many of the candidates that are running for office normally stop by to shake hands and personally chat and share a meal with members of the Nashville community as there are many who come from all over Nashville each year.
“We always look forward to this annual event because we usually see people that we haven’t seen all year and I always know that the candidates will also come through,” said one long-time supporter. “We just make an ‘outing’ of it by purchasing our tickets and having our meal right there at the church where the ‘action’ is.”
The food sold at the fish fry will be crispy delicious fried tilapia fish and fresh barbecued chicken in leg quarters or white meat—each served as a sandwich or on a plate consisting of cole slaw, baked beans and spaghetti.
The youth group at Clark also participates in this event by providing drinks and desserts available for purchase.
The 69th annual Fish Fry and Barbecue Chicken will be held at Clark Memorial United Methodist Church, 1014 14th Ave. N. Rev. Dr. Herbert Lester, Jr. is the senior pastor.
