The multi talented ‘Jaefriz’ is a professional and accomplished rapper, music producer, pianist and saxophone player. Born Jamal Dotson, supporters took an unofficial vote and ‘JaeFriz’ was the catchy unique name chosen as his professional handle.

He hails from Birmingham, Alabama and is a graduate of Hueytown High School. Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in music at Tennessee State University, ‘Jaefriz’ wears many productive hats, but always keeps God first. He has performed publicly throughout Nashville and beyond. Each event was unique, including a special invite from the esteemed Meharry Medical College—a seminar on ‘Obesity and Breastfeeding, the Importance of Awareness and a Healthy, Quality Lifestyle.’ He has also performed at other educational, community events and via private invitation.

Music lovers seeking a fresh face and innovative sound can check JaeFriz out around Nashville.

Coming appearances include: the 33rd annual African Street Festival; a couple of private events with guest saxophone serenades; and a kick off VIP party at the opening of new stage play. As he keeps his grades up and studies current for TSU academic work, JaeFriz’s team is preparing his 2016 performance and production schedule.

Whether it’s producing beats, playing his beautiful saxophone, the piano or laying down a powerful rap, Jaefriz is a legend in the making to keep an eye out for. We live in a society that is not always compassionate, but even with some of the societal stigmas and awful news headlines, there is always a shining light to be found.

This young man stands out from a crowd in a positive sense, ranging from his clean cut, well groomed appearance, respectful mannerism and his genuine concern for others. As another artist once noted in her songs lyrics: “The God in me.” Upon meeting him, that is no longer a secret and of course, remains well received.

JaeFriz mentors and is a role model for other men of color and young people keeping a watchful eye on him and his work. In essence Jamal “JaeFriz” Dotson defies a thunderous stigma line that states “all young black men are……” you fill in the blanks. But know that this 22 year old is very different and the total opposite of that belief statement.

When asked where he draws his inspiration and influences from? “Jaefriz” says that some of them stem from talented artist such as, “Drake”, “Kenny G” and “Aaron Zigman.” He upholds his core priorities daily and hopes to continue being a positive influence to others as the aforementioned Musicians, and others have been to him.

His new website is under construction, so to keep up with his school, work and personal time as JaeFriz stays in touch with his followers via social media, and sound cloud at soundcloud.com/jaefriz and Twitter: @Jaefrizmusic and YouTube: www.youtube.com/user/JaeFriz
