Nashville’s remarkable ‘leadership’ is not just reserved for a set age group or crowd. The ‘under 40 crew’ continues to make their mark and shake things up on a positive note.
The Urban League Young Professionals of Middle Tennessee (ULYPMT) is the local chapter for the National Urban League volunteer auxiliary targeting young professionals ages 21-40 to empower their communities and change lives through the Urban League Movement.
Their 2015 A.C.E. Leadership Conference will commence on Friday, November 13, from noon till 6:30 pm, beginning with the ‘Hiring Lounge & Interview Suite.’ It is free and open to the public. It will be followed by the actual Leadership Conference on November 14, from 9 am-4 pm. This is considered to be a classic signature ULYPMT event, and attendees are provided the opportunity to explore a variety of professional and personal development skills in areas such as corporate social responsibility, entrepreneurship, leadership, and investing.
The objectives of the third annual A.C.E. Leadership Conference are to identify effective approaches to form viable relationships with local and state legislators including the Mayor’s Office and the Governor’s Office. Additionally, the conference will focus on action steps young professionals can implement to resolve injustices and improve economic inclusion, necessary qualifications and education for progressive careers, and community relations in the Middle Tennessee area. Conference goers are in for an additional treat as this year’s keynote address for the third annual A.C.E. Conference will be delivered by Judge Rachel L. Bell.
The Hiring Lounge is also free of charge and open to the public. It allows young professionals to meet with HR executives from top companies in Middle Tennessee—interviewing, recruiting, and hiring on site on Friday, November 13, from noon to 6:30 pm, CDT.
The conference continues on Saturday, November 14, from 9 am-4 pm with breakfast and workshops by industry executives followed by a luncheon and question and answer panel discussion with community leaders and local and state legislators. Confirmed panelists include State Rep. Harold Love, Jr.; District Attorney General Glenn Funk; Attorney Daniel Horwitz; Project Return’s Executive Director Bettie Kirkland, attorney; Ashford Hughes, Sr.; and Lonnell Matthews, Jr.
The event will be held at AIG Financial Network, 2000 American General Way, Brentwood, Tenn. 37027. The A.C.E. Leadership Conference is being sponsored by an array of business entities, including but not limited to: Bridgestone, Cracker Barrel, Tyson Foods, AIG Financial Network, The Connect magazine, Tennessee Minority Pages, and Professional Networking Group (PNG).
