Annual Emancipation Proclamation Prayer Breakfast hosted by Saint Luke A.M.E.

The community, members and friends of St. Luke African Methodist Episcopal Church will host its annual Emancipation Proclamation Prayer Breakfast on Saturday, January 9. The breakfast is being held in honor of the document signed by President Lincoln in 1863.

“This document is about one of the top 10 most important documents kept in the archives of the United States,” said Rev. Eddie Sneed, pastor of St. Luke. As the church prepares for this breakfast, Sneed said, “Come let’s recapture the hope and dreams of all people—the meaning of freedom to all people. Urgent help is needed to educate our young people,” he continued.

As a way of helping to encourage young people to receive this information, those who are able are asked to sponsor someone so that they can attend. There are different levels of sponsorships that include gold, silver and bronze that range from $15 to $500.

Rev. Kelley Miller Smith, Jr. will speak on the chosen theme for ‘The Chains that Bind’ the title of the event.

Rev. Smith is the pastor of First Baptist Church Capitol Hill.

Contact Rev. Eddie Sneed to receive additional information on how to get involved and for sponsorships at 615-268-7236; or e-mail <eddie.sneed@att.net>.
