2016’s RecoveryFest Nashville is just around the corner and is part of September’s ‘month of recovery.’ But for those of us in recovery, being in recovery (and celebrating it) is a daily, often hourly, process. The support is very much appreciated. Life is so precious and should be savored like a sumptuous meal—and cherished as a fine, rare jewel.

This year’s event will be held again at the East Park Greenspace located at 700 Woodland Street, Nashville, Tenn. 37206. It begins promptly at 11 am and ends at 5 pm (CDT). Help is needed in all areas including: set up, vendor assistance, post event clean up, stagehands, floaters and more. Saving and enhancing lives and impacting our local and global communities is a part of events such as RecoveryFest.

RecoveryFest Nashville is a grassroots movement about celebrating the positive impact of recovery from chemical dependency and other addictions and giving it the visibility and attention it deserves. We are on a journey and want to share our love and support with the people in our lives who walk with us.

This is Nashville’s contribution to and celebration of National Recovery Month in September. Let’s help break the stigma associated with substance abuse and mental health disorders creating a barrier for those seeking and needing help.

RecoveryFest Nashville is an opportunity for us as a community to come together, encourage one another and celebrate our journey. This is a free event. Friends and family are welcome. There will be fun for all.

The Free Dictionary describes and defines recovery as: re·cov·er·y:
1) The act, process, duration, or instance of recovering.
2) A return to a normal or healthy condition.
3) The act of obtaining usable substances from unusable sources.
Idiom: in recovery

In the process of participating in a group or program providing treatment and support for a longstanding psychological or behavioral problem, such as abuse, addiction, grief, or trauma.

I personally will join and support the event organizers and all of my brothers and sisters in recovery by saying that “we’re looking forward to meeting you at RecoveryFest Nashville 2016.”
