As a minister, I’m disappointed and saddened by what I see and hear on social media with our presidential candidates. Christians can easily get caught up in the rhetoric of praising or condemning them. “No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life,” 2 Timothy 2:4.

Church leaders should be diligent in teaching millennials the value of their belief in their Christian lives.

This election is filled with lies, corruptions, little or no moral value, and common negative perceptions. It will have an affect on the millennials for two or three generations. There are so many young non-Christians whose judgment is hypocritical and too involved in the world. Today we are pushing young Christians (ages 16-35) to all the wrong things.

The political system today is broken, and Satan is trying to confuse the church with a prosperity doctrine. The presidential candidates are talking about making things better for everybody. This will never work because truth and righteousness are not a major part of today’s politics. The church’s politics feed our carnal minds with wealth, i.e., worship God, follow God, and prosperity will come your way. Maybe it will, but just maybe. But let us not forget what Jesus said: “Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is cast into the oven, shall He not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?,” Matthew 6:30.

There is nothing wrong with voting for any candidate of your choice. Many servicemen have died in combat so you could have the privilege to vote. But when anything is preached other than the gospel from the pulpit, it becomes a cult. If you have heard politics preached from your pulpit, I would advise you to change preachers or churches—because that is not a church of the Living God. Read 2 Corinthians 11:13-15: Jesus Christ died for all. 1 Timothy 4:10 suggests that if God favors the rich over the poor or the Whites over the Blacks (or any other discriminatory idea), it is pure blasphemy.

Let us learn from our mistakes and go out into the world and proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord. Time is running out, and we all must be about our Fathers business (Luke 14:23): “And the Lord said unto the servant, go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled.” Our Lord commands us, to seek out the lost for God’s Kingdom. Brothers and sisters, this is a full time job.
