“And if a kingdom be divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. And if a house be divided against itself, that house cannot stand,” Mark 3: 24-25.
The 2016 election exposed an America of deep divides over race, ethnicity and culture—a nation, radically different in all demographics and desires. At times, it seems like the forces pulling us apart are stronger than the forces binding us together. Look at the Republican National Convention, heavily protested by thousands of people, where water pistols and toy guns were prohibited—but real guns were permitted under Ohio’s open carry law. Race remains the organizing principle of American politics, and racism is alive, well, and in fact, poplar.
The majority of White people have supported every Republican presidential candidate since Lyndon Johnson signed the Civil Rights Act. In the past, voters of color have overcome voter suppression tactics instituted by Republican state legislatures. But there will never be any rest or peace, and the ‘house’ will fall unless man learns the need to agree with Jesus Christ. Because there is no unity in the hearts of the people, this nation will continue to struggle, and the effects are seem in the homes, the church (Body of Christ), schools and businesses.
The strongest weapon man has is his unity with Jesus Christ. Unity leads to healing and salvation (Acts 2:42-43). It was through unity that man was made (Genesis 1:26). Unity opens the doors of heaven for answering prayers: “Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven; and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.” “If two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven.” “Where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them,” Matthew 18:18-20.
Unity makes God’s people fruitful (Psalm 133:1-3). God bestowed His blessings, mercy and favor through unity, which gives us the power to get rid of every form of darkness confronting us. Satan is the enemy, and his work in man’s life is to steal, kill and destroy. A man in Christ is a majority, while millions with Satan are still a minority.
