The Mullins Park Art Crawl, a unique, multi-sensory experience, is a new event celebrating the vibrant arts culture of Nashville. Mullins Park is a tree-lined 30-acre named after Joseph “Joe” Brown Mullins, a successful Black, multifaceted businessman who began developing housing in Bordeaux in the mid twentieth century.
The flagship ceremony slated for the inaugural June 10 event is the unveiling of a waterwall project that will complement the lush foliage and abundant wildlife of the park. The waterwall project will be designed and constructed entirely by Nashville artists.
Distinguished local artists will offer an enticing glimpse into their inner world and platforms. These artists come from multiple disciplines, including photography, textiles, painting, sketching and sculpting, and their works will complement the tapestry of the lush greenscape of Mullins Park.
Featured artists include Elisheba Israel, Michael Mucker, Megan Kelley, Henry L. Jones, Jason Cortez, Patrick Calvin, Ariel Simpson-Johnson, and Omari Booker. The artists will have their works available for viewing pleasure, as well as for purchase.
A musical performance and light appetizers will be provided, with the goal of providing the best expressive arts experience the city has to offer. Aromatic and delectable hors d’oeuvres will be presented by some of the finest local chefs and restaurateurs. The food alone is enough to beckon you to come and enjoy the evening.
Art is more than just a painting on a wall—it lives and moves in each of us. An event such as this wouldn’t be complete without some of the lively entertainment that makes Nashville the “It City.” Performances will include Ridley’s School of Dance, as well as Giri & Uma Peters for the art crawl.
Come out and enjoy a remarkable evening that will tantalize every one of your senses. The event is free and open to the public — that means you! Shuttle service will be offered from a secure parking lot on Clarksville Pike & West Hamilton Road over to Mullins Park.
