Evans Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Hermitage, TN hosted a 6-week girls day camp. At the end of the camp year, they hosted a Cotillion on July 29th.

The GEMS (Girls Empowered Motivated and Set Apart) Cotillion was held on July 29th at Victory Baptist Church in Mt. Juliet. The event was the culmination of of a 6-week day camp, which highlighted such topics as etiquette, STEM careers, life balance, responsible social media usage, Godly self esteem, self-care, and self- awareness. By the end of the six weeks many of the girls experienced: a looser walk with God, established meaningful relationships with campers and staff members, learned how to peaceably resolve conflicts, and learned to give selflessly, speak truthfully, and build good character.

The lovely young women were adorned in white dresses and accessories and escorted by their father or a significant adult male of their choice.

Upon entering the room, they curtsied their escort and took a stroll down the aisle while being introduced to the guests in attendance.

They were seated by their escorts and served a formal meal which consisted of roasted chicken, potatoes, french green beans, and decadent chocolate cake.

The GEM camper of the year, Selena Alvarado, was recognized for her exemplary leadership during the camp.
